LETTER:
Dear Ken:
MAGICAL
This is the
best word I can think of to describe our butterfly release. First let me set
the stage: I am a bridal consultant/wedding coordinator. The wedding was a
butterfly themed sunset wedding in the country. The ceremony took place beside
a beautiful pond. This is how our butterfly release went: After the bride,
groom, maid of honour & best man signed the registry which was on a table
off to the side they made their way back to their spots. At this point we
handed the bridesmaid on the end a basket with the 12 butterfly release boxes
in it. They each took one then passed it on until all 12 attendants (6 girls, 6
guys) had a butterfly box/envelope. At this point they moved in from the usual
straight line across the alter, to create a semi circle around the bride and
groom so that they were sort of surrounding the bride and groom but so that the
congregation could still see. The minister read a beautiful touching poem that
his friend had written which I will get you a copy of. I can't remember the
words but it had to do with freedom and spreading wings and love taking flight.
The last few words of the poem were "as our love takes flight". At
this point the attendants opened the boxes and all 12 of the butterflies
fluttered up and away. It was MAGICAL. The congregation oohed and aahed
followed by applause. They were in awe. It was beautiful. One of the
butterflies flew over and landed on the bride and grooms 3 yr old son's lap.
Another fluttered straight for the bride and if she hadn't ducked would
probably have landed on her shoulder or hair. This too was perfect as it
created a chuckle for the bride and all her guests.
As a
wedding coordinator I rehearse, test, run through everything several times.
Everything is practised to perfection. With the butterflies I couldn't do that.
This stressed me out. I have never done a butterfly release and had never dealt
with your company before. I was so afraid that the butterflies wouldn't fly
away. I did everything I could. As simple and straight forward as they were, I
followed the instructions to the letter. Without exageration I read the
instructions at least 10 times over the course of Fri and Sat just in case
I was missing something. It seemed too simple. I even had a thermometer
taped to the box to ensure the temp was perfect. But I still didn't know for
sure what was going to happen when they opened those boxes with 150 people
watching. It was the highlite of the ceremony and I had no guarantee that it
would work. I kept listening to the box to see if I could hear them scratching
to get out, but I couldn't. I literally prayed to God that they would fly away.
I even talked to the butterflies telling them they better fly away. When they
opened those boxes I was standing at the back of the congregation with my hands
over my mouth holding my breath. When the butterflies came out and spread
their wings and fluttered away, I had tears in my eyes. As a wedding
coordinator this was the first time I have been brought to tears. It was
perfect. I was both relieved and mesmerized. After the guests had left
their seats and were mingling, the minister pointed out to me that there
was one extra, (I think you sent 13 instead of 12). He was about to
open it and I said, "Let me". I opened the box and watched the butterfly
closely as it got itself upright. I offered my finger for it to grab a
hold of to help it get upright. It sat there for a couple seconds, flicked it's
wings a couple of times then off it went. I can see why you named your
company Magical Monarchs because that's the best way to describe this
event.
I hope the
photographer got some good shots. I will send you copies of any photos she took
and I will get her permission for you to use them for advertising/testimonials.
I will also get you a copy of the poem. Thank you again and again for making
this a "Magical" moment. I'll be in touch when the photos are in.
Also please feel free to use any part of this letter for testimonials and feel
free to put me down as a reference.
Thanks
again

LETTER:
My husband and I would like to thank you so much for the
butterflies. Our
August 31, 2002 wedding was perfect. The monarchs added a sense of
completeness and the level of respect I have for them now is unbelievable. I
have attached some pictures from the wedding. Feel free to use our name as a
reference.
Our photographer was amazed. He has submitted some of the pictures to
Saskatchewan Tourism.
Let me know if you have any questions.
